Botanical Prints

Monday, January 30, 2012

Vintage Botanical Prints are always amazing. I like coming across various collections on the internet - but it seems that Flickr may be the best source for finding the perfect scan of these old beauties (of course next to finding the original books).

Valentine's Day Card Download!

Friday, January 27, 2012

I'm so excited to share with you this free Valentine's Day Card download. Just click the download link, at the bottom, to open the file and follow these easy step-by-step instructions.

2. Center the image in the print menu (for an 8.5" x 11" piece of paper - it should do this automatically)
3. Print (I recommend a thicker paper than your standard printer paper - such as cardstock)
4. Fold paper in half (hamburger style)
5. Follow the front of the card as a guide to cut while folded (or add crop marks before printing - for those of you who know how to use them)
6. Write your gushy love note inside
7. Stick it in an envelope
8. Give to your Valentine

I also included a digital version of the card for those of you that would rather email it (click the download link)!

*Do not use this for re-sale, but for your personal use.
*If you have any questions - leave a comment.

You know who I'm talking about right? Carl Kleiner did the amazing Ikea cookbook "Homemade is Best" images. Well he's at it again with these amazing product shots for Ikea.

Design + Style : #4

For this week's Design + Style Post, both have a classic style to them, but each has that added touch of character.

Luis Dourado

Monday, January 23, 2012

Maps are so great. Especially these Digital collages / paper manipulation by Luis Dourado.  I think they may even be more beautiful when they've become manipulated.

Anna Hurley

I love waking up to exciting things! The wonderfully talented Anna Hurley has opened a print shop. And these are just a few prints available. I now have another item added to my wanted list.

KRAFT + NEON

Wednesday, January 18, 2012

If you know me or have been following along - you know how much I love Kraft paper and white ink. It's my absolute favorite combination. The contrast of the neutral and the white is beautiful. Until, I came across Shanna Murray's most recent products. She's killing it once again, but this time with kraft and neon! It's perfect or really, it's magic.

Design + Style : #3

This week's Design + Style feature is so simple, beautiful and feminine. The curves in the logo even mimic the curves in her lace. If you could pick a design for your outfit today, what would it be?

73

Tuesday, January 17, 2012

A Daily Letterpress by Ian Coyle features 73 letterpress prints with various sayings. For 73 days in 2009, Ian printed a daily thought - how great would it be to have these hanging around your office or home?

Type: A Visual History of Typefaces and Graphic Styles

Monday, January 16, 2012

Would love this book, Type: A Visual History of Typefaces and Graphic Styles. It has lots of great inspiration and resources - and it's really important to find inspiration in other places than the internet.

Facebook

Over the weekend I gave in and created a Facebook Page for the studio. I had been debating doing it because I didn't use Facebook all that much and how many platforms can one little business have? But after thinking - most of my clients and blog followers have Facebook - so it's a way you can connect to me, especially if you don't have Twitter. And if you do have Twitter, I'll be sure to think up some fresh ideas for Facebook only.

Head over and check it out.

Mucca

Stunning hand-drawn type work for Schiller's Liquor Bar by Mucca - it gives the bar a unique brand. Plus that neon sign, creates even more character.

Pretty Things

A few pretty things to look at today.

Wikesten: Fjord Hat
Miles of Light, Flora Study
Gold Hearted, Luna Rope Necklace

Design + Style : #2

It seemed only fitting to bring these too together. How perfect are the colors together? Color blocking in both forms.

Of A Kind

Tuesday, January 10, 2012

I came across Of A Kind recently - and I love getting their emails about their artists featured. This week's edition release featured jewelry designer Laura Lombardi (which also included a story behind her and her work). If you aren't familiar with her work, now is your chance. It's all so stunning. Of a Kind features one of a kind designs available to buy, but only in a limited quantity. Laura's Brass Wave Earrings are only 50 of kind - snatch one while you can.

Desktop

Monday, January 9, 2012

When I got my new computer, I was in search for a new wallpaper, but if you're anything like me - my desktop is usually filled with files and folders (that I usually go through and organize all the time - they just keep piling up!) - so I usually like to keep my wallpaper simple (plus I'm a fan of white space). I came across Simple Desktops - easy enough! They've got a great collection of super simple wallpapers made by various designers.

Collar + Sweater

loving this combo.

Moving!

Friday, January 6, 2012

The time has come, we are moving tomorrow! There are boxes all over our apartment and even more to fill by then. You don't realize how much you have until it's all stacked in boxes - and we don't even have that much!

This sneak peak, that was featured on Design Sponge a while back, is a favorite - I've featured the kitchen before too.

Upon A Fold Feature

I am so excited to share with you Folded's feature on Upon A Fold. Upon A Fold is a blog favorite. There are so many beautiful things featured. Take yesterday's embroidery post - I found it via Upon A Fold. If you haven't checked out the blog, go take a peak now and see my little feature.

Yumiko Arimoto

Wow. These embroidery works by Yumiko Arimoto are amazing. So many little details.

Design + Style : #1

I've decided to start a new inspirational little weekly series combining design + style. I love matching the two together - if this girl had a brand this is what it could be.  Feminine and classic with a bit of a kick.
