Pillows

Monday, February 11, 2013

I've put off 'decorating' our bedroom for the longest time. It's one of those things I always felt like doesn't get a lot of attention so why worry about it? Well I've decided this has to change. After a long day of work, I want to crawl into bed relaxed and inspired, like the rest of our home feels. To start, I thought I would get some miss-matched / matching pillows, to go with our cream bead spread.  I ordered these three little beauties this weekend. I've been eying the West Elm dip-dyed pillow for a while and CANNOT stop looking at Victoria, of SF Girl by Bay's cottage makeover. It's SO perfect. Right up my alley, with all that black/white/neutral. So I had to get the little Swiss cross pillow she shared.

What about you? Do you feel the same way about your bedroom? Or do you have one room in your house that might get neglected? How do you make a room inspiring?

Black

Tuesday, January 22, 2013

Last week Lindsay Stetson postsed a photo on instagram of new chairs she just got  -- and I quickly became a big fan. I've always been a fan of these Eames plastic arm chairs (we have one in white!), but their is something about the black that stands out to me. It's so sleek looking. I think I'm drawn to it because it's matte. The black also adds the perfect contrast to a room.

Luckily, you don't have to break the bank to get the real thing (maybe one day!), but for now there's this option

Moving!

Friday, January 6, 2012

The time has come, we are moving tomorrow! There are boxes all over our apartment and even more to fill by then. You don't realize how much you have until it's all stacked in boxes - and we don't even have that much!

This sneak peak, that was featured on Design Sponge a while back, is a favorite - I've featured the kitchen before too.

Flat Files

Tuesday, January 3, 2012

I have quickly become a paper hoarder. I started collecting paper and paper scraps after taking a bookmaking class in school a couple years ago, and because of Folded, I had collected even more for that. I don't want to get rid of any of it. Problem is, it's kind of a mess. My answer, a flat file. I'm on the look out for something affordable. One possible version is this Ikea one. But I must say I love the old metal versions - plus those would store my large pieces of paper too.

moving!

Wednesday, December 14, 2011

We're moving to a new apartment in the next month or so - and I'm super excited because it means we can decorate in a whole new way! We dread the actual act of moving - but I can't wait for this. Plus our new place has an awesome view & a washer and dryer (!).

DREAM

What a dream kitchen!
I've loved the open shelve feature for a while but I think I've found my favorite mix for a kitchen : white and wood. Found on pinterest.

NUMBERS

It would be so great to have a huge number hanging on a wall in our place.

HERBS

Friday, June 24, 2011

Last weekend we picked up a beautiful Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree for our place to make my amateur green thumb happy. My goal is to do everything to keep it alive. My next green thumb experiment... a little herb garden for our patio.

Neutrals & Color // Can't get enough.

Emma from The Marion House added warmth to her bedroom with pillows from West Elm.

Botanicals

Friday, May 13, 2011

I have a bit of a green thumb. Well, maybe not, because I'm having a hard time keeping some of my plants alive, but I really think that plants add so much to a space. How adorable are these different white vessels? The contrast to the greenery is beautiful. Now if only I can keep my plants alive...

ps. check out that typeface! {i've got an obession with finding new fonts} I think I found my new "go to" font Bebas from here {which is actually one of the best places you can get fonts}.

have a great weekend!

Bikes

Thursday, May 5, 2011

It's been in the 80s & 90s this past week here, so naturally I'm getting excited for summer. And of course biking is a summer time activity. Ryan and I have been talking about eventually getting another bike.  I always like the bikes that look pretty over their practicality. These bikes are bit too pricey for our needs, but they are so great.

Rug Love

Wednesday, April 27, 2011

Since we moved into our place, I've been on the constant look out for affordable rugs. Its crazy how much they can cost! I think another aspect that is holding me back is choosing the style and color, because I just can't make up my mind. But I'm wondering if the search stops now, as I found a rug for under $100 today! The bottom right grey chevron rug from Urban Outfitters....

How beautiful are the leaves on these ficus trees? If I can keep my small plants alive that we have now, maybe I'll move on to these beauties.
