Behance Find : Wire

How beautiful are these letterforms by Dan Hoopert on Behance?
So delicate, light and airy.
The lines create really amazing shapes and patterns within each letterform!

Behance Find : Dwell

Tuesday, February 19, 2013

I've recently joined Behance because I continually find amazing design work there. I feel like Behance was one of those things you joined back during Undergrad but I never got into it. I really feel like it's a great place to find really mature and wise design work because not only is it filled with great designers, but some of the bigger design agencies display their work on it. Go get inspired!

This project, by Yi Xiang Lim, is an identity and layout design pitch for Dwell, a travel guide to coastal cities. I seriously wish I could get my hands on it. Not only am I loving it's identity, but the layouts, colors, and textures look so great. I'm also a big fan of mixing textures, I think it really adds to the experience of flipping through the magazine. Check out more images from the project on Behance

Passport

Tuesday, February 12, 2013

Really loving this brand identity for design bureau, Passport. The colors are so engaging. You really can't go wrong when pairing neutrals like kraft, nude and cream with any kind of color, but this indigo, violet color is really amazing. This is also a really great example of how beneficial one stamp can be for various print materials.

Twitter Calligraphy

Friday, February 8, 2013

I'm freaking out about how awesome this project is.

Dave Foster, announced on Twitter he was going to write out the names of anyone who followed him until he reached one thousand followers. And those followers of course came a lot faster than he would've thought. Here are just three of of the thirty five

Beetroot

Tuesday, February 5, 2013

I'm a big fan of these graphics + photo pairings of this shoot, by design group, Beetroot. I'm always drawn to illustration/design paired with fashion and Beetroot really created some beautiful images for Access' Spring/Summer 2011 fashion book.

Portfolio

Monday, January 28, 2013

With the new site coming, I've decided I'd like to reshoot any print materials I currently have. This way, it feels a bit more cohesive. I began by searching for various inspiration on styling, color, lighting, etc. Here are a few that stood out. Check them all out ( + more ) on Pinterest.

Winde Rienstra

Tuesday, January 15, 2013

One of my favorite things in fashion are lines like this. Winde Rienstra's mix between art and fashion. Especially when textures, multi-dimensional forms, and mixes in textiles are involved. They're so beautiful.

Here's a little excerpt from a studio visit with Winde Rienstra --

"With my collections I try to look for the fine line between fashion and art, I find it interesting to see the body as a sculpture in my design. The designs are somewhere between clothing and object..."

Check out the rest of the interview and more images from Winde's studio on Dam Style.

Monday, December 17, 2012

Are you subscribed to Of A Kind? It's not just another shopping subscription site, it's filled with beautifully curated pieces with a limited number of editions. I love opening their emails and checking out the newest pieces. I think what stands out most to me are the beautiful images of the pieces - it makes the curation perfectly cohesive.

I'm a big fan of textiles, and these beautiful weavings by Brook&Lyn. All the textures, colors, and patterns are so perfect. Wouldn't mind having one of these hanging on a wall in our place!

Crossover Festival

Wednesday, September 5, 2012

A beautiful collaboration between Jonathan Finch and Stephanie Oglesby, creating branding for a festival for creative professionals. I love the play on the festival's name.

You also can't go wrong with neutrals and neons.

Wednesday, August 15, 2012

Before my love for design, there was my love for swimming. On last week's Top Notch Type I shared why swimming is near to me. So, I got SO excited when I came across these beautiful Cigarette Cards on how to swim.  How cool are they?? Check out the rest of them here.

Feel so inspired by Lauren Moffatt's new swim line -- rich with colors, textures, patterns, shapes. So beautifully done. Makes my pattern obsessed heart flutter.

Design + Style : #16

Tuesday, August 7, 2012

I thought I'd change this week's Design + Style up a bit and share with you a tumblr I recently started. I wanted to do something that was less related to work or specific to design and more relaxed, chalk full of all the things I love (specifically, design & style related). Sometimes you just need to step away from work related design and into a new creative outlet.

Check it out: Design Swell

Oat Creative : Bondir

Friday, August 3, 2012

I have been coming across so many amazing branding jobs lately that have been so inspiring and beautiful. Oat Creative did an impressive job for Bondir -- the raw hand drawn type mixed with the delicate classic type and design elements, is so gorgeous. I'm a big fan of mixing exactly that.
